PPG, polycosanol, is a pharmaceutical derived from sugarcane wax. PPG is a combination of primary aliphatic alcohols. The major component of PPG is 1-octacosanol. PPG has little, if any, toxicity. The minimum dosage is a single tablet (5 mg) daily to observe a statistically significant decrease in plasma lipids.
